“MASTER BICIPLAN”, Pordenone, Italy
PRESENTATION OF PILOT PROJECT AREA
The pilot area includes the Municipality of Pordenone, project partner, and 9 other surrounding Municipalities (Azzano X, Cordenons, Fiume Veneto, Fontanafredda, Pasiano, Porcia, Roveredo in Piano, San Quirino, Zoppola), for a total area of 439 square km and a total population of around 160.000 inhabitants.
PILOT CHALLENGES
In such an interconnected society, working on mobility autonomously and independently in small and contiguous Municipalities can lead to scattered and not significant interventions. We want to prevent this from happening with the Master Biciplan, which will analyze the cycling situation in the various Municipalities, to determine where to plan or improve cycle routes on inter-municipal connection roads, in order to guarantee sustainable, easy and safe access between neighbouring Municipalities.
OBJECTIVES
The pilot project would like to provide a thorough analysis to develop an infrastructural plan for inter-municipalities cycle routes in order to:
- Reduce vehicular traffic with its polluting and climate-altering emissions
- Attracting more citizens towards sustainable mobility
- Improve public health.
PLANNED ACTIVITIES
- involvement of Municipalities’ staff and citizens
- data gathering
- drafting of the Master Biciplan (MB).
PILOT PROJECT TARGET GROUPS
The target group is identified in all citizens of the 9 Municipalities, that will benefit from the long term intervention foreseen on cycle routes. The main stakeholder are FIAB and Legambiente (local branches of national associations that promote respectively cycling and environmental protection), together with smaller associations of bicycle lovers spread between the Municipalities involved.
